Original Poster
I am trying to update my bios, but when i run the file it goes on about being incompatible with a x64 version of windows system.... so I am guessing I have to boot this from a disc or harddrive? I was wondering if someone could walk me through this or just point me to a link with an amazing guide and related programs?
xendrome
Going to need more info, made/model of motherboard for starters.
MindTrickz
If you don't know exactly what you're doing then you probably should not be messing with your bios. You can completely brick it, and then your system will be useless until you go out and invest in a new one. WAQT 1 Share
Roger H. Veteran Posted November 11, 2013 Veteran Share Posted November 11, 2013 Or look for the x64 version. They usually list both options to download and update from within Windows. goretsky 1 Share

Jason S. Global Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted November 13, 2013 there are a variety of ways to update the BIOS these days. It depends on what your motherboard supports - through BIOS, some extra boot program, through Windows directly, etc. goretsky 1 Share
+BudMan MVC Posted November 14, 2013 MVC Share Posted November 14, 2013 As asked already, if we had some details we could show you exactly how to update it.. I personally like to keep the bios on the latest even if no listed fixes or updates to the bios that might be related to anything I'm doing. That being said, normally it is not recommended to update your bios unless something specific in the changes to the bios directly effect something your doing. Unless there is something specific in the update to your needs, you might want to just stay with the bios that is currently installed. If we had the details, we could work this out if you should update - and how. goretsky 1 Share

Even if there were only 4 new fixes listed for my mobo , after update I discovered many more options available, GUI changes , better performance and other new characteristics. I'm talking about a mid-end version of Gigabyte .(H77) goretsky 1 Share
+BudMan MVC Posted November 14, 2013 MVC Share Posted November 14, 2013 I hear yah - which is part of the reason I like to update mine. But it is generally common suggestion not to update unless something specific in the update to an issue your having. But until we get some more details from the OP - there is not much more to do here. goretsky and spikey_richie 2 Share
