HDD Question

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2008 Dell 530S off a Swap page for $25 in hopes of getting it up and running. The seller said the HDD drive was bad. When the PC is booted up, it gives a warning about something about the HDD Parameters being outside the normal limit. I try to format it but it fails. I have tried everything to make the HDD work again.

To make a long story short, I would like to know if sticking the Hard Drive in the freezer could fix it at all. Is there any home remedy fixes or should I grab another HDD.

Grab another HDD.  The freezer "might" work, but only temporarily.  I personally have NEVER gotten that trick to work.  I've got about 50 of them laying around that are 80GB if you need one.

I'll have about 300 next summer.

Pretty sure the old freezer trick was to fix the "click of death", at least for long enough to pull your data off the drive.

So yeah, probably better off just getting a replacement.
