sambby
Recently I am helping my friend choosing a new Android phone. She want longer battery life. On my Android HTC Desire( actually my first smartphone), less than 1 day when I am playing games for a couple of hours or surfing a lot on the way, so I would use a mpj replacement battery as alternative. Besides, it just awesome so I wont upgrade in the near future. I was wondering what are the battery lifes on other smartphone.
ozgeek
Please do not get the S4. I have it and it's battery life sucks so much. My iphone 4 stays 100% in one hour at idle while my s4 is already down 93% or less in the same space of time and I have tried many battery tracking apps to work out what apps. Turns out the OS is draining it while in sleep mode. Regretted purchasing it :(

Arachno 1D
With a large amount of gaming playing and surfing etc I think they are pretty much all on the same par for the same or similar battery size

My phone ha Wifi and GPS on all the time. I can play games for an hour or two, browse internet, email...basically a medium amount of work. My phone goes off the charger at 5:30am and when I get home at 5pm, I have 80% battery life left. I have the LG G2.
tsupersonic
If you want battery life, LG G2, Samsung Note 2 or 3, Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX (also RAZR MAXX HD), and HTC One Max. Anandtech has a few smartphone battery benchmarks.
Ambroos
I have an Xperia Z1 and the battery life is great. Screen on time is usually around 6 hours before it dies. It's got a huge 3000mAh battery! Brandon H 1 Share
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted December 20, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted December 20, 2013 Depending on where you are located, have a look at the Motorola Moto X and Moto G. Both are good phones with comparatively long battery life. They might not have the specs of high-end devices like Galaxy S4, HTC One or Nexus 5 - but they're both more than fast enough. And more importantly highly affordable.
freak180
Nexus 5 is the way to go. Battery life is awesome!
neo1911
LG G2 has the best battery life. The bezel is thinnest and hence the phone does not appear as huge as the Samsung note series.

Roger H. Veteran Posted December 20, 2013 Veteran Share Posted December 20, 2013 Moto G for cheaper end. Moto X or Nexus 5 for medium priced Galaxy S4 or LG G2 for higher price Samsung Note 3 for stupidly high priced (and large obviously :p) --------------- Your battery life expectations depend on price levels as well so choose accordingly. I have a Nexus 5 and my usage has me with at least 40% at the end of the night that i can usually go 36hrs before it dies.
AJerman
LG G2 has the best battery life. The bezel is thinnest and hence the phone does not appear as huge as the Samsung note series. That and it's not nearly as big as the Note series either. Really, most phones now have 24hr+ battery life. The HTC One, the Galaxy S4, the LG G2, the Nexus 5, Moto X etc. The G2 might be one of the best, but the N5 is pretty close behind despite having a smaller battery, likely due to the fact that it's AOSP. Also, now days removable batteries are on their way out in favor of small portable chargers that can charge your phone very quickly (at least part of the way), and aren't specific to any one device. I personally think this method of portable power is far superior, but others insist on still having removable batteries, so I suppose that's your first question. Fewer and fewer phones have removable batteries, so if you want one, you need to look at something like the S4 (which would be the lowest on my above list of recommendations otherwise). If you don't plan on upgrading frequently, I'd strongly suggest the Nexus 5. Being a Nexus device, it will continue to get updates for a while to come. Certainly longer and faster than any of the other listed devices. If you don't have TMobile or Sprint though, you'll have to pay the full $350 for it, but you won't be stuck on a contract. I had the HTC One before, and the Nexus 5 now, and honestly they are both fantastic phones, and either would be a great choice, though I'd probably take the G2 over the One now. Either way, you'll be amazed at how far phones have gone since the Desire. The Moto X is my favorite phone to suggest to people who aren't quite as worried about the bleeding edge latest and greatest. It's a VERY friendly phone to use, and everyone I know who has one absolutely loves it. For the price though, I'm a little hard pressed to suggest it over the HTC One since it's dropped so low in price. Hit up your local store and try a few out, see what you think. neo1911 1 Share
riahc3
Hello, Turns out the OS is draining it while in sleep mode.1: What is "sleep mode"? Sleep mode != idle. 2: The OS itself cannot drain from 100% to 93% in a hour. That being said, even though I wouldnt get it for myself, Id get a Nexus 5. OS can't drain battery? Then explain this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2a7e6ics19t4am0/2013-12-21%2020.40.43.png

DocM
LG G2 has the best battery life. The bezel is thinnest and hence the phone does not appear as huge as the Samsung note series. All the big new LG's have big batteries. My Optimus G Pro is 3140 mAh, and you can get a 9300 mAh + custom back online (though it makes the phone a tad chunky)
