+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted January 1, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted January 1, 2014 All Things D, the WSJ tech blog run by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, is closing down: 'You Say Goodbye and We Say Hello' To most All Things D is known for its annual D conference, which brought us gems like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs being interviewed together at D5 (2007). Mossberg and Swisher aren't going to rest however; midnight ET January 2nd their new site Re/code will open. We shall see whether the new site can gain as much traction as All Things D had. Zkal
WSJ didn't renew the contract, they'd rather have more in-house tech news. Why?
NeoWind
They foresee a repercussion will happen at this year annual D conference if they don't move quickly to recode.
Otto Gunter
Tried it out by doing a search for "surface", got two hits both with nothing to do about MS Surface. That, and the fact that the layout hurt my eyes, makes me doubt I will ever return to their site.
Growled Member Posted January 5, 2014 Member Share Posted January 5, 2014 WSJ didn't renew the contract, they'd rather have more in-house tech news. That doesn't seem like a good reason to close an entire site. It had name recognition, something that takes forever to build.
