Deaf_Raiders
I have a client who just switched from a Mac Power PC(2001) to a Mini Mac Intel (md 2007). I have transfer her stuff using firewire and migration assistant. She can receive mail but can't send mail using the IMAP option she is getting and iPad next week and wants to sync her mail with the Mini and iPad. She uses entourage but she now wants to swtich to Apple Mail. I have set the settings up using this http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/set-manage-email/set-talktalk-email-apple-mail and this for IMAP http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/email-setup/what-are-talktalks-email-settings but nothing seems to send. I have double checked all the username and password and all confirmed but still can't send using smtp.talktalk.net as the outgoing server. I have run out of ideas, but i am pretty sure it works with Apple Mail Client or doesn't it?

ashpowell
Only thing I can think is all the settings may not be set.. Have you double checked Outgoing authentication is ticked and that it's not using SSL? all the little details.. Also is there no errors which give you information to why the email didn't send? Does it connect to send but just not send? Or not connect at all?
SteveCac
Is TalkTalk the ISP, if not, try the SMTP settings for the ISP?
game_over
Funnily enough i walked into work this morning and had a colleague waiting for me saying her phone wasn't sending emails, she's also on TalkTalk. I come on here and read this thread minutes later. her SMTP settings were missing, it should be set as SSL, port 587, with the username (full email) and password filled out for SMTP authentication, it's working again now so just double check those. We're using POP though, i couldn't find IMAP settings so assumed it didn't support it.
