I got this error with my ATT LG G2 is this bad ? Should I care about software updates ?

If you rooted your device, you'll have to install updates/ROMs manually.

How though and from where?

Do I have to install updates/ROMs ?

If you managed to root, you'll be able to install ROMs.

When you know LG has released a new update, find the ROM (xda is a good place to start) and install it. There will be dozens of guides online on how to.

You don't have to install them but if you don't, you miss out on bug fixes and potential new features.

What version of Android do you currently have installed?

You fill find better help on XDA developers site. ATT LG G2 XDA .

You should flash an official ROM for your phone to un-root it back or you can choose flashing a custom ROM with a much higher version number.

Your warranty is disabled as soon as your device gets rooted. Official ROMs are easy to flash sometimes, plug the phone to the PC , run the software with Admin. Rights and make sure your battery is fully charged.

Goodluck!

Whilst it's true that rooting generally voids the warranty, it's generally easy to un-root and remove all traces of said root.

Flashing an official ROM solves the warranty problems most of the time. However there are phones wich require you to remove bootloaders, drivers and repartition your SD card. These things can be and will be seen by the warranty techs and without problems they will disable your warranty on the said product.

Back up your data by connecting it normally to windows based PC. Factory reset. Root will be removed.

Hope you have not installed custom recovery. If you have then follow this guide.

Then perform OTA. Copy over the backed up date in same place.

Thing is... I bought a HTC HD2 for 2 $ from  a friend.  Thanks to XDA I run Windows Phone  7.8 on it perfectly and I m planning to dual boot with Android soon.

I use this phone when I work and it serves me well for a five years old tech. Latest official ROM is Windows Mobile 6.5 and thats it if you don't unlock this device.

It runs Android, Windows Phone 7.8 , Ubuntu , MeeGo and perhaps Windows RT/Windows Phone 8.

Find a way to disable automatic checking for updates in Settings.
