torrentthief
Look at the username "Deihmos" in the screenshot below, as you can see it is messed up. This happens in both Firefox 24.4.0 ESR and Firefox 29 Beta 9. I'm not sure if this is a problem with neowin, IPB or a problem with firefox's rendering engine. Please try and fix this and if it is a firefox or IPB issue then file bug reports so they can fix it. Here is a link to the thread that this happens on: https://www.neowin.net/news/canonical-trying-to-lure-xp-users-with-the-release-of-ubuntu-1404-lts-for-desktop This has happened a lot on neowin recently so I thought I would report it. I have checked the page with Chrome and IE11 and it displays perfectly on those browsers.
Steven P. Administrators Posted April 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted April 21, 2014 This appears to happen when the image isn't present, yay that Firefox changed this behavior! afaik when I used Firefox ages ago, it just didn't display anything, now it seems to be showing the alt text. Here's how it looks in Chrome:
Nick H. Supervisor Posted April 21, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted April 21, 2014 Looks like it isn't Firefox, but something to do with Deihmos's avatar. In Chrome the avatar in the news article just doesn't show.
Steven P. Administrators Posted April 21, 2014 Administrators Share Posted April 21, 2014 Ah yeah, it's a gravatar.. (and displays properly in the forums) wonder if our comments doesn't support it?
+BudMan MVC Posted April 21, 2014 MVC Share Posted April 21, 2014 If you look at source its clearly missing So explains the alt text being shown.. Possible to just remove alt text from comments section?
Timan Veteran Posted April 21, 2014 Veteran Share Posted April 21, 2014 Should now be fixed. Max Norris 1 Share
Max Norris
Should now be fixed. Yep, was getting the borked image thing too with 28.0. Better now, just showing the text only instead of a placeholder with alttext when the image is missing.
