Biggest disappointments in a game?

GTA V PC version. More precisely, lack of it.

Admittedly this is the longest it's taken for this one, but it is their most ambitious GTA yet. And there is also the possibility they are developing it for PS4/XB1 at the same time, slowing their development time. Didn't GTA 4 take 8-9 months to hit PC?

After the twisted creation that was GTA 4 PC crawled out begging "Kill me". I'm glad they seem to be taking their time with this one.

Don't tend to be disappointed by games that much, as there are bigger things to feel bad about in life, but i understand the question.

Recent let downs were MLB 14 The Show, which was my fault, as i forgot the MLB games were actual sims and not FIFA, so i had to let it go due to not having the time to spend on it.

Other disappointments that come to mind in recent times are NFS Rivals, which was very annoying to me due to the frenetic pace, and Halo Spartan Assault on X1, which managed to be shorter than the PC version even with extra content - how it did that, i will never figure out. Fuze was also quite a let down, very generic shooter considering all the talent that went into it.

I still can't get over how bad Watch Dogs is turning out to be. They took elements of splinter cell, which are PERFECT and drastically stripped them down so you are SUPPOSED to be stealth, but the AI is so dumb that it compares to Splinter Cell 1's AI... Well. I can't be bothered to go through all these side missions. Maybe a WatchDogs 2 will redeem itself. However, I won't pay for that one.

"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."

If you want a good story then watch a movie, that's what they're there for.

Hell no.

90% of the indie games that I've bought.

AAA? Medal of Honour, 30 minutes was enough for me to delete that boring game.

  • 2 months later...

Curse of Naxxramas was a bit of a let down. I expected the AI to be smart, instead it is cheating by being able to play multiple cards of the same kind and having overpowered Hero Power and health on Heroic mode.

of the recent hyped games:

Watch Dogs - (nothing new of the table, boring boring side missions... wannabe)  Damn I was so hoping this game would be great, and I got bored of it in less then 4 hours....

Amnesia, a machine for pigs.. not really scary, not did i like the story/gameplay too much.

Both games I got on day 1 and waited for them for ages though, but I still think they were not as good as they could have being.

As for the older games:

Pretty much every Sonic game since Sonic CD.   I recently played Sonic CD and it is still more fun then any of their recent crap.  Even the high rated Generations, is nothing but a tribute to the original quality.

Unlike Mario, Sega just could not make one blockbuster after another.

They could not get the formula right, while Nintendo kept pumping Mario 64, Galaxy, New Mario Bros, etc etc. Hit after hit!

A bit of a shame, they could not pull it off with Sonic.

Originally Battlefield 3's buggy launch was a large disappointment as was Diablo 3 but achieved a new level of disappointment with Battlefield 4.  Can't believe I fell for it again and pre-ordered ...

I can't think of a recent game I was disappointed in - I've been very positive lately, that and I can't complain about free games.

The last game I remember be wholly disappointed in was the recent Aliens Vs Predator. I had such fond memories of AVP2 and the joy it brought to LAN parties, but this game while not bad just never lived up to my expectations.

Unreal 2: The Awakening

Wow. Really? What exactly didn't you like about it?

I remember absolutely loving that when I was younger, then again I had no idea what that game was, so I went in with no expectations at all.

I expected a game that looked and felt like a sequel to Unreal.
