Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 coming Oct 8th for preview users.

Windows Phone 8 GDR 2 is rumoured to be coming soon, and now an exact date may have leaked out.

Sylwester Sa?ek, contributor to Polish site WPWorld.pl, has posted on twitter screen shots of what appears to be Cortana working in Polish.

He has stated that the update will be coming on the 8th October to Preview for Developer users, less than a month from now, which seems to match up with other rumours.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 is rumoured to bring features such as a data toggle in the action centre, sortable settings, support for new processors and Cortana coming in Alpha to more regions.

I don't even have update 1 on my 8X yet, thanks HTC!  And they're already looking to push out update 2!    Here's hoping HTC has whatever driver/hardware firmware issue fixed by then and 8X users can jump right to update 2.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

This is just ridiculous, most devices outside of Microsoft Mobile don't even have WP8.1 yet let alone Update 1 and they're already looking to release Update 2!!!!!!

Because the odds are high that update 2 will ship with new devices, just how update 1 is already coming on new phones and so on.    It's also the preview program, don't know when it'll go final, could be in November or later.    I don't think there's going to be a update 3 though, I could be remembering the rumors wrong though, maybe update 3 early 2015.   Otherwise they'll just rollout these two updates to people till Spring 2015 when we expect the next major version for WP.

Very good, generally the preview program is excellent and the update that comes via it (for me anyway) is relatively polished and not much changes in the final version. I have never had any issues.

Also this quick release is very good, it will catch developers attention I think. Looking forward to the next update

Honestly at some point Microsoft will start bypassing the carriers.

If the carriers are talking for real about wanting a viable 3rd ecosystem in the market then they should be helping MS push WP even more and not get in the way, otherwise they're just giving the market over to Android and a monopoly to Google to do whatever it wants.
