Wireless USB adapter isn't showing 5GHz network?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just bought a TL-WDN4200 wireless USB adapter (it says that it supports 5GHz) and I have installed the latest drivers, 2.4GHz networks are shown, however, 5GHz networks aren't.

- drivers are the latest ones

- I have gone through the device properties, advanced settings etc. and tried changing various settings

- I tried resetting the router and my PC

- signal strength is very good

My router/modem is virgin's superhub 2, it is operating in both 2.4 and 5GHz modes i.e. dual band.

Any ideas what the issue is?

Do you have different SSIDs for the different bands?

For example I do a my normal ssid for 2.4 SSID and then I use SSID-5ghz for the other band.

So it looks like you can setup 2 different ssids from this info

Hi,

I have just tried it out on another computer and the 5GHz network still doesn't show, only the 2.4GHz.

So looks like an issue with the USB adapter then?
