Adding Bluetooth audio support

Recommended Posts

Apparently this older Asus M4A78 Plus motherboard does not have a bluetooth module to use Bluetooth audio.

Is this all that is needed to support Bluetooth audio:

http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-adapter/dp/B007Q45EF4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412521507&sr=8-1&keywords=bluetooth+usb

Yes, I read thru the mobo manual.

No, no Bluetooth setting shows up in the Control Panel.

Yes, bluetooth is turned on in Services.msc.

No, this is not about upgrading a PC, other than adding Bluetooth audio.

Thanks for any help.

The answer is, Yes.

I actually decided on this dongle:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GIX8CUS/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_3p_dp_1

It seems to have high reviews.

One snag, Windows XP did not install the correct Bluetooth items.

And for some reason, the included mini-CD wasn't read by the CD player.

So I copied the files over from my laptop to an SD card, then transfered the Bluetooth folder to the desktop.

After a couple of minutes the right Bluetooth items popped up, and I could now see and connect to my much newer headphones.

Rock on ....
