But I have a 64 bit so what does this mean?
sc302 Veteran Posted October 6, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 6, 2014 eeew....horrible hardware....but I would assume that you have a bad disk or image. if you need the official windows 7 disk that microsoft puts out you can get it here. You will need your windows key to activate it, get the right version for the key you have. 64 or 32 bit makes no difference as far as the key is concerned. http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links
Richard Grant
I dont own a key I'm using a pre-activated disk copy that some Frankenstein of a technician gave me. I've used this disk to install once before (a while back). Its on a DVD RW
sc302 Veteran Posted October 6, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 6, 2014 the key should be on the bottom of the laptop. as shown here http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91nzwiCxIwL._SL1500_.jpg If you don't have a key all we can do is tell you to purchase a valid copy. If you don't have a problem with that disk on other systems, you may have bad hardware in that system. possibly memory or possibly a hard drive that is in the process of going south. but it sounds more like disk image issues or scratches. here is what I come up with regarding your issue: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/30b0d6a6-c907-4b47-a447-8ce515c31504/cannot-install-vail-refresh-gets-to-99-and-exits-on-an-error?forum=whsvailbeta solution: update: I ended up having a bad iso image. I d/l it twice and both dvd burns resulted in the error installing VAIL. A third download and image burn resulted in finally getting VAIL to install properly. Nick H. Supervisor Posted October 6, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 6, 2014 I know the error message is different for this installation than it is when you were trying to install XP, but if I had to hazard a guess from the fact that your XP message is related to an inaccessible boot device, followed by these errors that are talking about how the image can't be deployed, I would really look in to the HDD being an issue. Was just about to say the same thing having looked at your previous XP error post. also make sure your cd/dvd disks are not scratched or damaged. Richard Grant
There isn't an issue with the hdd.
sc302 Veteran Posted October 6, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 6, 2014 At this point you have nothing to lose by downloading a digital river image and installing to see if it is a hardware issue or disk image issue.
Richard Grant
Issue fixed, I reformatted the drive, created a bootable USB from the link that s302 provided. took FOREVER and some fiddling with. Ubuntu will be hearing from me.. This all happened because Ubuntu 14.04 crashed to grub and I couldn't start up..
simonlang
richard grant i get a bit confused about you. first you do an ubuntu review, saying it's the greatest os ever, then you try to get mac os x run on your machine and now messing arround with windows? the funny thing is, while your ubuntu review might have been a little bit too short, which is no big deal, the mac os x thing brought you troubles and i have no idea if you have fixed them, and win 7 (i think installed on about 60 or 70% systems worldwide) completely fails. :D i have to smile here
