Can't install Windows 10 on USB 3.0 port

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing this issue too?

I tried copying the ISO manually, using Rufus and using the Win 7 USB/DVD tool.

The ISO boots fine to the setup screen, but Windows later prompts me that it can't find missing device drivers. Apparently, my USB 3.0 drive is no longer detected once I enter setup.

I'm using the Z77 chipset with the Intel USB 3.0 controller.

It works fine on USB 2.0, and strangely enough, it works fine on a Windows 8.1 installation media on my USB 3.0 port as well.

And even more strangely, it works fine with my laptop which also uses the Intel USB 3.0 controller.

What gives?! Has anyone had issues installing via a USB 3.0 thumbdrive?

Thank you!

For shenanigans..

Try installing to the key with the Windows 7 USB tool.

Then copy all the files off the drive into a folder. Format the drive to FAT32, and copy all the files back onto it.

It's helped me overcome USB 3.0 issues in the past.

If that doesn't help, I have no idea >.<

Don't know what board you have but you may want to check for updates, my ASUS H-87 Plus got a USB 3.0 driver update in July and ever since I've been getting USB 3.0 speeds on the front panel USB ports :P
