Because you don't click on your name/profile pic elsewhere for logout options? Hell, to sign out of Neowin, you need to click on your display name. George P Global Moderator Posted October 27, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted October 27, 2014 Whoever decided that at Microsoft should be fired. It's the least obvious/intuitive thing in the world. It's the same way in Windows 8.x on the start screen, so in this case it's a consistent UI choice, could change later but for now it's the same between the menu and screen option. Even on Neowin, next to your user name at the top right, there is a down arrow! +Warwagon, alex_d2w and Knife Party 3 Share

Ian W
Wrong, Run was absolutely available in the Windows 7 Start menu. You just needed right-click on the Start button and choose Customize (or something similar). Incorrect. The Run command was not available by default on the Start menu in Windows Vista or Windows 7. I assume that this is because the Start Search box served a similar purpose. However, as you already mentioned, the command could be reinstated . . . zhangm Supervisor Posted October 27, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 27, 2014 What's wrong with the good old shortcuts? Like Windows-R? At least in my hands on 8.1, they've removed the Ctrl + Shift shortcut to launch a process with elevated privileges through the Run box. The Start screen continues to handle the shortcut as expected. TAZMINATOR
Windows 7: You can add Run command onto the start menu via customize as the poster stated. Windows 8 and up: Hotkey Win + R... or right click on the button in lower left corner and select Run. Other way including the mobile devices, they can swipe from the right edge for the charm and select search and go from there.
