Newbie needs forum navigation help

Recommended Posts

I am a new member and need help on a couple of topics.

1. When I want to edit my posts and click on 'Edit', I do not get my post to edit. All I get is a blank posting window. Since I am 50% blind and no good typist, I make mistakes and  I need the edit facility.

2. Each time I click on anything I get this pop-up. That's annoying. How can I suppress that.

3. How does one upload a picture to your server or embed a video.

1) Editing is set on a time limit. I think it's 5 minutes for regular members, so if you want to make any changes after that you won't be able to, even if the button is there (although I think the button gets removed when you lose the ability to edit.)

2) That looks specific to Internet Explorer? I don't have a machine to test it with at the moment, but you might want to check out your settings in Internet Explorer. There's probably an option about the security messages that you get.

3) There is a button in the reply box called "My Media" located next to the emoticon button. That should allow you to upload things, although there are size limits in place I believe.

Moved to Site & Forum issues.

Nick is correct w/ 1. I haven't seen the blank posting window issue though. That sounds odd.

For 2, you'll see this using https, if you're viewing a site with both secured and non-secured content e.g. secured forum content, non-secured ads or scripts. You can tell IE to stop prompting by editing the security zone settings. I usually tell mine to not display mixed content ever (and this prevents the prompt from showing) though I would prefer that IE be able to remember my choices for specific sites... :/

I have had the exact issue with the secure information pop up shown in your pic.

The fix is easy.

What you need to do is remove the 's' from your address bar (so https becomes http )

The edit funcion should fix itself but there is a 3 or 5 minute timeout, after that, you can no longer edit. You can however, contact a moderator to change the post if it is REALLY important that the post be changed or edited.

Preferred method would be to report your own post that you need editing, copy the post text, then ask that it be changed to whatever you need it to be.

3. For this one, lots of us use tinyupload.com to upload our pics then using the Direct Link for layouts, we copy and paste that URL into the Image function. That button is located here:

For Example:;

Direct link is
