saiz66
Hi guys, Just installed Ubuntu 14.04. I am having issues importing photos/music from my iPhone 5S (iOS 8). For music I tried Rythmbox but it didn't seem to find any songs on my iPhone. For photos I tried using Shotwell but got below error. Import Results Report (Shotwell 0.18.0 @ 2014-12-31T16:21:17.647714Z) Attempted to import 1 file. Of these, 0 files were successfully imported. Photos/Videos Not Imported Due to Camera Errors: IMG_1735.JPG error message: [-107] Error retrieving file object for /store_00010001/DCIM/972IVWYC/IMG_1735.JPG: Unknown error Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
spy beef
I wasted a lot of time trying to get my iPhone to work with Linux. I recommend you run Win7 + ITunes in a VM instead.

Thanks. according to a linux forum, iphone 5s with ios 8 works only with itunes and the old tricks to use it on linux are not possible anymore, since apple blatantly is just blocking it. <snipped> Edited January 2, 2015 by Brian M. Actually, the contents of the device is now encrypted, and the third party solutions haven't found a way to break the encryption yet. Easiest solution is likely going to be a Win XP or Win 7 install in a VM.
starman444
Heres an idea, use a Windows/Mac system. Iphones arent open source and its mostly illgeal to use an iphone in Linux, hopefully it will change one day

saiz66
Thanks a lot everybody for the quick replies. I guess the consensus is to use Windows in a VM. Just a quick question on this approach. Would I be able to access the hard disk on the VM in Ubuntu?
