Chinooks In Wolverhampton

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, A Concerned user here.

I just was told that 3 Army (Or possibly Air Force) Chinooks have executed a combat drop in Heath Town, Wolverhampton. today.

Trouble is, the armed police that came with them had people cordoned into the stores in the area, including my wife

By the time I got back to try and reach my wife, they had let her come home, does anyone with any sort of social networking or other news source have a few minutes to update what happened please?

A large part of that area is a junction that handles a majority of the traffic going to and through Wolverhampton so as you can imagine, that side of Wolves was practically shut down

Do you know how big a Chinook is?  How heavy they are?

Landing one in a city center would be near unprecedented.  Moreover there is nothing in the news other than recent (within a month) reports of field landings as drills.

We get Chinhooks over my office/home all the time, I would say at the very least once a month but probably closer to once every 2 weeks, I'm sure it was nothing :)

I certainly hope so too, looks like they've all cleared out and traffic is flowing again,

I was loaded with fear and adrenaline (for lack of a better way to describe my state) when I made this topic, it can be closed or delete w/e

looks like all is well

So you have totally chilled but you say your wife was ushered into shops by armed police who deployed from said Chinooks?

I'd wanna know why.

I never said I have become totally chilled, but if it wasn't a training excersise or similar, she'd still be there, as would everyone else who happened to be out or shopping in the area, and not at home now. And dude a little diplomacy in your posts? You're coming across as aggressive.

The armed police were in cars, cordoning off junctions, crossings and other potential escape routes, the gypsies in the area also had a rude awakening, from what I have learned talking to some friends, the 'responders' left rather quickly.

But I will go on record to say I am relieved that my wife, and everyone else who were in the area at the time, got home or are going to get home safely and without further incident.

Doesn't surprise me.

Heath Town, like Low Hill, is a right dive.

lol +1

He said he had fear... which means he was worried about his wife in that area.

At least he said it's all fine now.

It's cool bud, Nick's ok, he comes off like that sometimes

... which is a step forward, because most people who walk through Heath Town never get some safely or without incident

I am interested to know what happened now. Is there any military bases round there? There are a few sites that show flight plans/paths but I doubt they have little more than Easyjets flights to Benidorm on there.

My guess is that they were trying to confirm or disprove rumours that Birmingham was a Muslim city from a safe distance...

What!  how does that comment add any value to the thread?

Before you hate on me, it was a joke in response to the guy on Fox News saying that Birmingham was a Muslim-only city and no go zone for non-Muslims.

Nearest base I'm aware of is RAF Cosford, but why there'd be such an event near where I live concerned me, I'm actually not as panicked now as my family is safe, (along with everyone else's)
