Dennis
My apartment has a SOHO panel with 2 SAM-D8's and a SAM-MP6. How would I set a router up on this? Can I plug it from a wall outlet, but then how do I configure that outlet as an uplink or anyone with experience know a way to do this?
+BudMan MVC Posted February 23, 2015 MVC Share Posted February 23, 2015 Those are patch panels, one being voice the mp6 So you have these And where do the they go.. A patch panel is just a jack that has wire that goes somewhere, normally another patch panel that something else is plugged into. Without knowing where they go?? You could plug a laptop into each port.. Do you get a link light, do you get an IP? Can you get to the internet after you get an IP, etc.. Once you find a live connection that gets you IP and internet - then you could connect a router there or AP or switch, etc..
Dennis
I figured out a bit more now. All my wall outlets are wired to the D8 modules. Found the port/line that my PC goes into the wall outlet and connected the router to it. Starting to make sense now. Still want to get the other outlets connected to the network too, so maybe will get a switch for that.
+BudMan MVC Posted February 23, 2015 MVC Share Posted February 23, 2015 So where does your internet come in? And the jacks in your room are all wired to the panel. So yes you could put a switch in the panel and then they would all be connected.
