Very strange problem with my Galaxy Avant

Recommended Posts

Yesterday my new Avant suddenly decided that any calls made or received strictly from the handset would not have any microphone,as I can hear the person, but when I talk to them, they can't hear me. I have overcome this problem by using either the speaker or Bluetooth headset to make my calls, but even odder is that if I initialize the call using the speaker, then turn it off, the microphone suddenly works. I am running stock rom, and have root access. I uninstalled the only app that I installed prior to this issue, and have done multiple reboots. Since this phone is brand new I can easily take it to the shop and get it fixed/replaced, but really want to know if this is a software issue or a hardware. If I do end up taking it in,I need to unroot it, is that easy to do?

So, you just rooted your phone and have not applied or flashed a stock ROM?

Have you tried a factory reset?  If so, probably a hardware issue.  You can always try reverting your phone back to 100% stock using this guide....

Quick web search...

If you are having audio issues with your device, try powering down and up again (power cycle). Next, head into the settings to check if the proper audio levels (setting>sound>volume) are in place. Your next option is to remove your back cover and make sure nothing is stuck in the speaker. Also, check your headphone jack to see if anything is stuck in there. Use some compressed air to clean both the jack and speaker out. Your last two options are to perform a factory reset or install a replacement speaker/jack.

Had issues where I dropped a little water on my phone.  Audio didnt work so well until I blew in to all of the ports.  Then that cleared out the excess water and been fine since.
