Elusive Windows 10 Wallpaper

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for the wallpaper on this screenshot everywhere but I can't find it, it appears in many MS promotional materials for Windows 10, anyone with a link where to download it?

It was in earlier Insider builds.  I haven't been able to find it in RTM.

Really? I suspected that, do you know which build it was present at?

@BinaryData I know :-( I also found that one a few days ago, there are many versions of it floating around in extreme high quality even 4K lol, but I can't find the other one either, I wonder why MS shows it up everywhere and then does not provide it in the final product, if you check Bestbuy or any other online store advertisment that's the wallpaper that shows up mostly.

Took me some work but I found the source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/petur_bjarni/5623768257/in/photostream/

Direct download link: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5222/5623768257_76f42b9a3d_o_d.jpg (3400x2266)

And yes I beat google it's image search engine :p

Edit:

Not satisfied with this resolution? Throw some(quite a bit) money to him for a 4358x2912 copy: http://www.gettyimages.nl/detail/foto/fox-track-on-tasersuaq-royalty-free-beeld/136130899

I'm downloading an earlier build I think might have had it so I can install it in a vm and try to pull the file out (and the other wallpapers, too).  I'll post them here if I am successful.  Otherwise the link above works.

Yeah, I've been through a few builds now and I haven't found it yet, so just use the link already posted.

500$ for a freaking image? IS HE DRUNK?

It's a royalty-free license, those prices are actually kinda cheap considering that you can use the image in magazines etc for the price.

Nope, this wallpaper  was not in any of the builds, it only appeared in promotional media. Windows Technical Previews did have another mountain with snow and footsteps-wallpaper, but not this one.

Yeah, I'm thinking I was thinking of the other wallpaper, which I immediately recognized was different when I saw it again. Here's a link to (afaik) all the Windows 10 wallpaper and lock screen images (including RTM): http://1drv.ms/1M0m0EL

That's how it works.

How do you think photographers make money?

Besides, it's a pretty reasonable price, considering you can use it for anything you want with that license, like using it in an ad that gets printed a couple million of times.
