Neowin Forum Updates *Programmers Needed*

KlipInfo is a XML type based program which enables it to give headlines from a particular page, it also has support for giving the latest news from Slashdot or the Register, can someone make a plug in for Neowin? so that i dont need to open my browser instead i can get the latest on this

amoeba: it still has to query the neowin server, so your ping from there determines the speed (aka, you won't notice that much of a speed difference :p )

nice, that should work just fine. hopefully flash can import that as xml. i'll you know how it goes when i get home and try it out.

what prog do u use .food diles in, i have klipfolio, and it only allows .klip files, what are the .food files for?

Redmak: any chance of separating by category? also, have you talked to tingle about adding RDF and XML support to his script? I know that'd be a cool feature for when he releases it. :D

well it parses just fine in flash mx.

got it all in there now. lemme see what i can do with it now :p

well i got my flash desktop, gave me a chance to tey out flash mx :p

anyways i made i modular using xml, so far (very rough) it can:

1. pull a random jpg outta a folder with images with names like 1.jpg,2.jpg,etc. using an xml file with the number of pics and make it your background.

2. grab some news off neowin thanks to timdoors nice xml files

3. launch notepad through a vbs file

looks like crap but it works. hehe.

things i'm planning on doing

1) add a clock

2) read the coolmon xml and integrate that.

3) make it look better

4) see if i can read a food file so i can get more news.

anyways, its coming along nicely. if you want to look i'll need somewhere to upload the zip :(
