FREE .Net Controls

Question

Hi OOP Mateys,

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that contains locations to FREE .Net controls, so I'll start the ball rolling with the new Power Pack I just found !

The VB.Net Power Pack over at Microsoft is a free download containing 7 new controls including Blending Panels and Notification Windows.

Link : VB.Net Power Pack

The Power Pack can also be used in C# !

They are a great addition to your .Net toolbox and they are free !

Enjoy ! :D

Here's a list of submissions so far . . .

I found one called Skybound VisualStyles. The website has the following information about it:

Skybound VisualStyles gives your applications the true look and feel of Windows XP and later Windows operating systems. It overcomes the serious limitations of the visual style support included with the .NET framework.

VisualStyles provides both a drop-in Windows Forms component that can extend your existing application with zero code, and a set of classes that can be used to custom draw your own controls using the Windows Theme API. It was designed using .NET framework conventions and integrates easily into any application or component library.

Their license basically says that it can be used for free, but you resell it under your own name. I tihnk that if you do want to do that you need to buy a license for $99.95, but otherwise it's free :D

EDIT: Found this information. It clarifies the license:

This program is completely free for commercial or non-commercial use. Full C# source code is also available for just $99.95.

Glad you find it useful biorK, it just dawned on me one day that I have loads of favourite links to free .net controls so I thought lets get a mod to make my thread sticky so that others can add their free controls.

I luv .net its great way to program without all the hassles plus with Microsoft behind it could not fail, .net is here to stay and with all those kind people releasing their controls as freebies it really helps.

I do believe in the next version of Visual Studio Microsoft have added quite a few new controls as well plus the excellent MY class, you can read more about the MY class at the link below :

Link : MY Class - VB 2005

It looks as though the new additions to the new Visual Studio are going to make life easier, so Whidbey should rock !

Kind Regards

No one will probably ever use it, but this is a control that let's you interface to a PICNET rather easily that I (sort of) wrote.

It's called PICdotNET....

...I use it all the time. I can't ever turn the lights in my room on without it :) <points to the place where the light switch used to be, and has been replaced by a small circuit board>

If you want to use LZMA compression in your .NET programs, you can use the LZMASharpTools collection.

The LZMASharp.dll contains the functions needed to manipulate LZMA, with 3 sample programs (2 in C#, 1 in VB .NET) that show how to use its simple manipulation functions. It currently has stream based codecs and a file based codec (pass the filename).

LZMASharpTools is a port of LZMA# SDK from Igor Pavlov. The code is available under the Common Public License and the Lesser General Public License.

I have developed three freeware controls in C# all are available to download from http://parj.cjb.cc/ . All downloads have sample applications so you can see how the control looks and feels.

1) Customizable Horizontal Progress Bar

2) Circular Progress Bar

3) Info Bar (with color blending animation on mouse-over)

Below are are some screen shots of the controls

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
