Joshua
Kazza one of the most popular programs since Napster, may soon be following its same fate. In fact NYtimes.com reports that the subscription version of Kazaa will be unveiled in about four to six weeks. This story can be read here . Fortunately, this new network called Altnet will be running along side the current network. The CEO of Kazaa hopes unrestricted bitrates along with other new features will persuade users to open their wallets. Apparently this software used to run the new network was downloaded in under our nose while on Kazaa. Read about the CEO's defense of his actions here. With all this commotion surrounding the fasttrack network and soon to be Altnet, you need to question how the community will react. Subscriptions have never worked and Kazaa may cut back features to promote Altnet. Kazza may be plentiful while it lasts, but so was Napster at its peak. Ironman273
So what? Something else will take it's place, just like what happened to Napster. I remember Napster-users saying the sky was falling when Napster was closing down. Now we have Kazaa. When Kazaa is gone, we'll have something else.
