Why?

If THIS POST had been about any other web host would it have been locked? I for one found that topic intresting. It's not like he was flamming them, just voicing his frustration and opinions.

Yeah, I think it shouldn't have been locked. It's not like he flamed the crap out of Hosttyme, and as he said, he wasn't able to get in touch with them.

Bah, my 2 cents

Just my 2 cents....

I've worked for a hosting provider now for over 2 years. The hosting provider I work for is MUCH BIGGER than hosttyme. Probably we're in the top 10 hosting providers in the world. But, I know what he's talking about. I get customers like him all the time complaining about us. It's just something that has to be discussed! If not here, then where?

Maybe it's about manners.

He knows we're connected to hosttyme and that hosttyme is the reason we are here at all. So what is he trying to achieve here?

Closing is the least we can do and if it were another host we most likely wouldn't close it.

That's our decision to make.

If someone is helping you this much and does more than anyone can expect, you don't let other people trash them. Don't know about you guys but I'm not like that

I don't know, it seems biased to me.

For example: If Dan Rather finally snapped and went on a killing spree, do you think CBS would let us hear about it?

Actually, you're right. If somone was to post something on our message boards trashing us, I wouldn't like it either. So, really, if you have issues with Hosttyme, take it up with their chat support or e-mail support. Sorry guys, but I see where Neowin's coming from. I'd do the same thing.

You're right Boss. It's up to the forum admins and mods to decide what gets posted on their board.

General Rule...if a Mod locks a post, that doesn't mean they want you making new threads to discuss why it was closed...

If someone did this on my boards, I'd ban them. :ermm:

I've worked in management before and I know it gets tireing to have decisions debated.

If a Moderator/Administrator decided a post isn't appropriate and either deleted or locked it, that should be respected since they are, indeed, the ones providing these great forums to us...

A bold statement from someone as new as I am I know, but still, it's just the truth...

A little too harsh for my taste. Especially is this person thinks they are doing the right thing, and they are a respected member like sttroopers. I wouldn't ban them, that's for sure.

If they didn't want us to see the post and voice opinions on it maybe they should've deleted it. Just like they probably should just delete this thread. :ermm:

If the person posting a question as to why I locked a topic was a respected community memeber, I'd most likely have locked that thread also and taken the debate/discussion to private.

It just all boils down to respecting a Moderator/Administrator to do what they feel is best in the intrest of their community. :)

A rant is a rant is a rant is a rant unless it's in bad taste.

Ranting on a site's sponsor qualifies. I agree entirely with twist, had the rant been about something on topic with Neowin's content I would have though the lock was unjustified, but, ranting on a site's host holds no real baring on the topic of conversations here. :)
