Birmingham Riots

Recommended Posts

Just seen this on the BBC website:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/avdb/news_web/...dfc_16x9_bb.asx

Now im not racist in anyway but i did notice that every single person who was fighting against the police was black youths....

this is so typical of the generation today they walk round thinking they own the place and they think they are 'safe' cause they walk with a swager and carry a gun and do drugs.

Im 24 and i hate violence like this.... when will people learn

anybody that starts a post with a disclaimer saying they arent racist, is racist. i'm not saying you go out to kkk meetings on the weekend or whatev, but dude, you are pointing at an ethnic group and suggesting that they are doing something differently because of their skin tone.

you are stereotyping 'the generation today' pretty badly as well, maybe you should take a deeper look at yourself before you go judging an entire generation. you don't know these people or their reasoning for living the lives they do.

Avoid the generalisation of people based on skin colour. It's just an unfortunate coincidence. Neowin doesn't tolerate racism.

No you are wrong. He is not racist. It is true what he said, he was simply making an observation and that does not make him racist at all.

And the link works only for people in UK since it is the bbc broadband streaming news video.

he felt the need to point out that everybody fighting the police was black. whether true or not, what is he trying to prove when he says that? ESPECIALLY after trying to tell us hes not racist? what observations is he making? without elaborating and looking deeper into the issue and suggesting that maybe the black youth of the area feel betrayed and powerless, taken on a mob mentality and have fallen into anarchy?

his entire post was from a position high above the average joes level of morality. hes on an imaginary high horse and not trying to understand the reality before him.

i dont play cards.

Are you sure your not a closet politician? I suggest if your going to play the race card you at least open your eyes to read the post. If anything it was a generalization of the youth today, not of young black males, he even says that if you read.

He simply said the majority of the rioters were black, had he said white would be having this discussion, I seriously doubt it. Perhaps looking deeper into the issue is important, but there is no excuse for such violent riots even if they feel 'powerless' and 'betrayed'. There only condascending tone in his post was about the youth of today, like I said, read the post.

I agree.

I take it that if he had just said that youths fighting with the police are so typical of the generation today they walk round thinking they own the place and they think they are 'safe' cause they walk with a swager and carry a gun and do drugs. But because he mentioned that it was black youths that were fighting with the police he gets criticised. All he did was mention who was fighting with the police, no racist comments at all!

^Excactly. He made an observation while watching that video. Why don't you watch the video too, but try not to notice that it is black people throwing stuff at the police or else I will call you racist.

My cousin was the person reported killed in the violence on Saturday!

I think that this is extremely disgusting. It just shows the level of ignorance that is going around in the black community.

Something needs to be done about this.

i saw just as many white people, maybe you guys were only looking out for black people so you can make your useless judgements...

violence is human nature, you can't put it all down to any single group of people.

It's not human nature. we all have choices which we can make. If you start to believe that your a sad person.

Sorry but voilence is unacceptable. P.S DOnt blame all aisan people It was just pakistanies and the 2 black crews that were involved in the voulence.

of course it's human nature - people become angry and aggressive when provoked, of course they have the power to decide how they express their feelings, and if you want to bring "morals" into it then go for it but what I'm saying is there will ALWAYS be violence, because it's natural.

Ain't that directed towords all black people, then?

Yes it is due to the fact that although there are people in the community who try to actively protest against it, the majority of that community seems to just accept killing as a part life.

Anybody remember the documentory on Channel 4 called "Who You Calling a << racial epithet >>?"

Darcus Howe said it was only a matter of time before something like this happened, didnt really see it happening myself but I guess what he said had some truth in it.

You can do a search on channel4.com if you are interested, I would post a link but cause of the language involved it would most likely be blocked.

Wow... I used to live in Birmingham, and my parents didn't like it so we moved down to London  And the video shows why.

Heck, who actually cares what nationality the thugs were? They are all teenagers who think that they are 'gangstas' for attacking the police, being violent (just to show off to their mates) and just downright stupid.

Just saw TDQuiksilver's post. Nope its ethnic minorities that cause most of the violence.
