giantsnyy2002
On my brand new p4, I can not install Mandrake Linux 9, or even 8.1. I dunno WTF happens, but when i have the disk in the drive, and i press enter, to load the graphical install, then caps lock and scroll lock just flashes. It even happens when i am using the Advanced Setup options, and pick text install. I know this mandrake 9 disk works because it installed on my 450Mhz P3 Gateway. zivan56
Thats called a kernel panic :p It happend when you have bad memory. However, it may be caused by many other things. Is this just in Mandrake, or do other distro's do this also? Try getting a older redhat setup disk, download the net install floppy and see if it stops, if it does it should give you an error on screen, or just freeze during a step. giantsnyy2002
Yes, Its just mandrake. I got text install to work, but the strange thing is that it does not work on my friends 2.0GHz and my other friends 1.9. Our system specs are virtually identical, except the friend with the 1.9 has 1GB of DDR Ram.
