FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SANTA CLARA, CA? JANUARY 6, 2003?NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced that Cg, the high-level shading language and compiler technology introduced by the Company earlier this year, has been named one of the top programming tools of the year by Game Developer magazine. Cg took top honors in the coveted ?Frontline? awards, which recognize the very best products and tools in the world of game development as selected by the game development community.

?The creation of high level shading languages, such as Cg, have given game developers the tools they need to produce stunning content faster than ever before possible,? said Ned Finkle, vice president of strategic marketing at NVIDIA. ?NVIDIA is proud to be recognized by Game Developer Magazine as one of the key contributors to the development and advancement of a standard high level shading language?.

A critical companion to NVIDIA?s recently announced GeForce? FX GPU family, Cg is a C-like high level graphics programming language that, when combined with a modern GPU such as NVIDIA?s GeForce FX, allows 3D content developers to create cinematic-caliber, real-time worlds and characters. The combination of a simple-to-use programming language and the cinematic computing platform will allow developers to create real-time graphics content that is similar to film quality rendering.

?For some time now the programming of embedded graphics co-processors has been a black art closed off to all but the most dedicated practitioners of the 3D coding craft. Cg changes this landscape with one fell swoop, allowing programmers to use a relatively high-level C-style language to build hardware-accelerated vertex and pixel shader programs,? said Chris Corry of LucasArts, a judging panel member for the Frontline Awards.

Frontline award winners were announced in the January 2003 issue of Game Developer magazine, available on newsstands now. The NVIDIA Cg Compiler and other elements of the Cg programming environment, including open source code, are available today for free at http://developer.nvidia.com and www.cgshaders.org.
