As we previously reported, TNA has announced that the 2013 Lockdown PPV will take place at The Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. We also noted that The Alamodome is a venue which can hold up to 70,000 people, so concerns began to arise as to how TNA would fill such a large venue.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that TNA plans to setup The Alamodome to hold about 4,000 fans, which should make the venue more conducive to TNA's usual PPV audience.

Additionally, tickets for the event officially went on sale today, and you can check out ImpactWrestling.com for more details and for VIP package information.

The 2013 Lockdown PPV is expected to be TNA's first step towards scaling back on the amount of yearly PPV events the company runs, as Lockdown is now being held in March, and the February PPV has been scrapped.

4,000? What's the bloody point of going there, then?! They might as well have gone with the AT&T Center (19,000 max capacity, and that's for concerts).

Scratch that; apparently WWE have an exclusive deal with the AT&T Center when it comes to wrestling, so TNA wouldn't be able to use that.

Doesn't make sense. They must have gotten a good deal.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There's a comment on the article which seems to explain things well...

The Alamodome, unlike the AT&T Center, is not regularly used. It's a bit older too and has gone through a number of renovations meant to attract national acts to use the facility; this includes making it viable for acts that don't draw 70,000 people (which is most of them). One of the more recent renovations actually segmented the facility to provide a smaller venue within the larger facility. It seems likely that TNA doesn't have to pay the cost for the entire facility if they are going to use a small portion of it. Also, it seems likely that booking the Alamodome is comparably less expensive given their struggles in attracting national acts.

TNA is obviously not booking it out of some delusion of grandeur. Management seems to think they can draw bigger crowds in Texas (not incredibly bigger, but slightly since their largest crowd ever was there.) They also want to avoid very small crowds. When I saw Lockdown in Nashville last year, there were barely 1,000 people there. So, it seems possible that this isn't a horrible decision. I'm sure TNA management planned on using a smaller configuration and evaluated their costs and risks accordingly.

Oh, and I just found the seating plan for the show over on TicketMaster:

Shows how little of the arena is gonna be used. They could hold their own version of WCW World War 3 in there if they wanted to.

I also just looked up ticket prices; there's seven prices: $15, $20, $35, $50, $60, $125 & $150 (well, after fees and taxes, $19.98, $25.14, $42.09, $59.63, $69.90, $141.60 & $169.90). I'm assuming they're good value (up to $35); don't think many wrestling fans would complain at getting to watch a three-hour PPV live in person for $15. Unless it was CZW. :p

A modern take on the nWo in my opinion. Still PG13 though. Imagine if they could push the envelop a bit more.

Yeah if let Dean Ambrose really go you'll see why he is one of the best on the mic

According to PWInsider.com, WWE has begun really focusing on how they can fix the Divas division. WWE have begun using focus groups with fans, asking them what they like about the division in the past, present, and what they want to see in the future. They have also been asked which Divas they liked before, as well as which ones stuck out now.

This test of fans is a good barometer to show that 2013 will be a year where changes in the WWE Divas division will occur. Fans are being asked specifics about Divas, including if they want them to be managers, wrestle more, dance, and other avenues.

God, I really hope there's a few IWC guys in those focus groups. :p

Did you guys watch that documentary on Channel 4 a while back which was showing Paige and her brother trying out for WWE? She looked pretty good back then.

No, I didn't know it about it when it was on. Thankfully just found it on DailyMotion though, so that'll be my viewing for tonight! :)

    • Very fitting name since AI users have air where there brains should be.
    • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
