att switches backbone from @home today

6 posts in this topic

A few hours ago, ATT broadband switched their backbone from @home to their own. Good news: ATT users won't be left in the dark. Bad news: connect speeds are dipping under 200k.

What?!? my connection is still down. i called at&t a few hours ago and they told me they have no idea when my connection will be back up. obviously youve got something wrong here.

I posted that based on the fact that I am an ATT customer.

oh i c. from an article on the at&t page they are slowly switching customers over. you must be in oregon or wherever they started first. sucks here where they havent switched it over. and they arent giving any estimates as to when.

I am in Atlanta. To my surprise we had absolutely no downtime. Something I failed to post an update for on this thread is that later that night on Sat. bandwidth not only returned to normal, but increased beyond that of @home. Personally this surprised me. I did not believe that ATT had the backbone for this. Your post leads me to start believing that performance will drop as different areas go online.
