"Invalid Partition Table" with Windows 7 on USB Flash Drive

Recommended Posts

I've tried every guide I can get my hands on, and every time I set up this USB flash drive to boot into Windows 7 setup, I get an "Invalid Partition Table" message. It only appears on my laptop, which boots Windows 7 Build 7068 just fine, but it can't seem to boot into the flash drive. I've looked around for a solution but found nothing. Somebody's gotta know an answer to this.

Hi,

i've got exactly the same issue...I tried installing Vista and Win 7 (7077 32bit) using this tutorial: http://kurtsh.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!...!1665.entry

but without any success.

I also tried running "bootsect /nt60 X:" after this whole procedure.

But no luck at all :(

thx for your help in advance!

Here's the easiest way that worked for me

create a 4gb partition on the usb drive (doesn't have to be 4gb but I made mine like this, I've set mine to fat32 also)

make that partition active, and give it a drive letter (for example D:)

mount your win7 iso

open up command prompt (cmd) and change directory to D: (assuming your iso is mounted at d:)

then: xcopy /s *.* E: (assuming E: is your 4gb partition)

and done

thx for your answer...

I tried what you said, but without any success.

I reformatted my XPorter 8GB to FAT32

created a primary partition

set it to active

and then I used "Xcopy d:\*.* /S/E H:\"

but when I restart and choose "USB HDD" as bootdevice, it just says "invalid partition table"

:-/

any further suggestions ? :)

I have the same problem. I tried everything i could find and still get that stupid Invalid Partition Table error :/

I had some problem. My solution is to change usb-controller to usb-hdd mode in bios, and change boot priority in hard drive section, not removable devices. Hope this will help you too.
