Early prototypes of the device have been described to be slightly larger in size than Apple's iPod Touch. The device will not sport any cellphone capability and it might be on sale this very year - that is if the project isn't scrapped altogether!As for Dell, the move to manufacture this MID is slightly perplexing because the MID segment is a very basic, nascent market with few products and low sales volumes. Also, it doesn't make sense for users to carry a separate device for browsing purposes when your average cellphone is capable of displaying most web pages correctly. Of course, a full-fledged MID will help if you want a rich Internet experience complete with full support for all web standards. The device might also use ARM chips for powering the MID, thus making it the first Dell device to use an ARM based chip. Work on the device seems to have begun last year with the objective being to create a product that could enable Dell to lock horns with Apple in the music player segment. Dell is also on its way to unveil other Android based phones later this year. In any case, for the MID in question to succeed, it will need to be one extraordinary device, and we hope, if it ever comes out, it should indeed be one revolutionary product!
