Many of you have noticed our front page article:

Windows 7 Beta 1 will start shutting down July 1st

Now that we're all waiting for the final version of Windows 7 to be released later this year, there are some important dates to remember if you're still using Windows 7 Beta 1. If you downloaded and installed Windows 7 Beta 1 build 7000 back in January, your computer is going to start shutting down every two hours starting June July 1st, 2009 until August 1st, 2009 when your computer will become non-functional.

With that in mind, please remember that this "Windows 7 Beta" forum is at the twilight of its usefulness and, as such, it may be closed/merged/removed as needed.

Oh ah, um... That article was from 2009. I thought it was yesterday. Oops. Well, the same principle applies. Microsoft ended support for the Windows 7 Beta and they will be ending support for the Windows 7 Release Candidates (if they haven't already). Thus, there won't be much of a need for us to keep this Windows 7 beta forum going for that much longer. My only purpose was to give a heads up that this forum is near the end of life.

As for the good news, Neowin came up with the first entry on Google when I investigated the end of the Windows 7 Beta program (not that I remember my search terms so you'll just have to believe me - queue hypnotic eyes - you will believe me).

This forum is now read-only. If you want to start a new topic about the Windows 7 (and at this point, it is probably NOT the beta that you're asking about) then you want to start that topic here:

This topic is now closed to further replies.
