Reworked my last one a bit, this might come handy for those of you using netbooks (you can save ~50px vertical space)

Theme: Naos (with custom colors) + Naos Emerald theme (also customized)

Wallpaper: May 2

Programs: DockbarX, Window Applets

With DockbarX I have no need for the bottom panel, and with Window Applets (two of them actually: Window Title and Window Buttons) I have no need for the titlebar when wndows are maximized (one of my biggest annoyances with Gnome is titlebar of a maximized window next to the upper panel, looks fugly). Ubuntu Netbook Edition uses a similar thing, Namebar, the difference with this one is that you can split window title and window buttons and place them anywhere on the panel. Only annoyance I have with this one is that sometimes, if you're using Emerald for window decorations, upon unmaximize, it doesn't show any decorations at all (a known bug, doesn't happen if you use gtk window decorator which most people do anyway).

Unmaximized:

Nah, thank you for the comment.

If you do try Window Applets, my suggestion is you keep away from using Emerald for window decorations, I had to give up on it because more often than not, upon unmaximizing, decorations would completely disappear. It actually seems to be a known bug, which is unfortunate, but hopefully it will be fixed soon, and the creator(s) of Window Applets have put a workaround on their to do list (currently it uses a compiz option).

One thing most people probably don't know is that undecorating maximized windows (removing titlebar) is really easy to achieve with compiz (as mentioned above), just open compiz config setting manager, go to 'window decoration' and paste !(state=maxvert | maxhorz) to 'window decoration' field. Window Applets just do that for you automatically, plus they offer buttons and title in panel as a replacement for titlebar.

My new work Laptop running Ubuntu 10.04, I only get ti have it for a few weeks but I think I'm in love with this thing.

ThinkPad X100e. 11.6" display, fullsized keyboard, largish screen resolution, dual core. It's just magic.

Theme/Icons are elementary from bzr. Background is from Bungie.net

mainly I want the transparent look on the taskbar and window borders for now.

Oh that's easy, just install emerald for window decorations, compiz fusion icon to easily switch from the standard window decorator. Transparent panel requires commenting out a line in the theme file, it was discussed recently in some other topic me thinks, gonna try finding it.
