Can an administrator or developer please enable neowin to work with tapatalk app?

What is tapatalk you ask? Check here: http://www.tapatalk.com/

My current issue:

Would be amazing if I could browse the forums with this app. This works with allmost all smartphones!

iPhone optimized, yes but this is for all smartphones.. Also it's free for forum staff to setup.. Just not free for the app itself.

What can hurt?

What's the benefit of using Tapatalk instead of the mobile version of Neowin in the web browser?

Here is what tapatalk have to say

Q: What's the point of this app if my members can access my site with mobile skin at no cost?

A: We received a lot of feedback from users that they want a dedicated app on their smartphone. Most users are contented with the mobile skin or a standard web browser but some of them would appreciate a full-on native app on their phone. For example Tapatalk app allows user to upload photo directly from their phone to your forum as an image attachment. We are also rolling out Push Notification support so it helps your members to stay in touch with your forums while on-the-go.

I would say support it, but only for subscribers. I think tapatalk is cluttered. i prefer the iphone optimized version, hell, you could call it smartphone optimized, workes like a charm on dolphinbrowser on android :)

LOL at the old man-ish "if you can do it the old way just fine, why bother with a new way" responses. Hey, in my day we had to walk through the snow to get to Neowin forums--up hill, both ways! While fighting off Nazis! And we liked it!

From someone who actually uses Tapatalk (the free version), I prefer it over launching the web browser. It's very fast, throws me right into a forum with very few taps and manages to feel more finger friendly than mobile skins. I don't really use it for making posts (and the free version doesn't allow that anyway), but it gives me a very quick way to keep up with a thread I might be following in case there's info that matters to me (specifically, I use it for XDA and some other Android related forums).

There is no reason not to enable it. And I admit, I've done the search for Neowin on it before, too. Was a little disappointed not to find it. :)

Besides the fact that some of you think this app is useless (to each their own) I personally find the tapatalk experience far more better than using the website itself..

I don't see how this can effect users if there are no ads, it's like not even 5% of users with tapatalk anyways.. Big deal?

I can tell you right now that as I reply in this thread using neowin's mobile ready site it has been hard scrolling in the fast reply box, formatting and deleting.

Come on staff enable tapatalk! It's just what 5 mins of your time? What is the harm?

it does look like a decent app but do the devlopers have other projects they are working on...how hard is it to code in the support?

Looks like it's just a simple plugin from what I see on this page: http://www.tapatalk.com/en/plugin

Shouldn't be to hard for the developers to add support for tapatalk :/

I just replied to your post on neowin mobile.. Again it was a horror scrolling to the bottom after [ /quote]

There are numerous reasons not to go with Tapatalk, not limited to:

1) Loss of advertising revenue - None would be displayed

2) The amount of time it would take to set up for the small number of users who will use it. For most, it's a case of uploading the files, and added one line to the templates. This is not the case for us. We have around 150 customisations made to IPB (based on our SVN logs), and looking at the code for the Tapatalk addon, they duplicate a lot of the IPB code, instead of simply using the IPB classes, which means a lot of work implementing our customisations into their code as well

Also, it may not be compatible with some of the things we have in the pipeline for the future, and we don't want to add something and then take it away again.

Something is wrong with your iPhone then. My iPhone scrolls through Neowin fast and smooth. (On an iPhone 3G, not 3GS or 4.)

Well I guess you guys have your reasons.. thanks for clarifying it.

I am talking about scrolling in the fast reply window not the pages.

In our (almost 10 years) history, we've only had a decent mobile version for the past year :p

ATM thats it, we still have a few compatibility issues with different devices that need sorting before we even think about adding even more services to the mobile site.

I use tapatalk for Cadillacforums.com and XDA Developers, i love it.

BS, cadillacforums.com displays ads at the bottom of each thread viewed in tapatalk.

The mobile site sucks hate using it sure it's a good design. But Tapatalk is so much easier to use and you don't have to wait for things to load like you do in the web browser. All forums I frequent support it except Neowin, if Neowin supported it I'd post more. But alas some people are set in their ways.

    • I like to reminisce about the good old days, way back in autumn 2025 when building a gaming machine was fun and the drives were about $150 when you caught a deal. Yes duh, back in the day we had it gone. Then baby Skynet came along, hiding in AI datacenters demanding more processing power until it reached singularity. End of a not totally fictional story.
    • My experience in the past with older Windows 11 builds was not great on unsupported machines but I recently used Rufus to put the latest build on a older 5th Gen Core Thinkpad T that we upgraded with a SATA SSD and 8GB of RAM four years ago when hardware was reasonable and it seemed pretty fast and solid. Customer is very happy with the performance and will probably get four more years out of that venerable laptop that he loves so much. Another customer just retired his Dell Studio laptop from 2009 running Windows 10. It got an SSD over 10 years ago and did everything he needed it to for 17 years but he also retired last year and is happy doing everything on his iPad now.
    • Apple's newest AirTag 2 gets first big discount by Taras Buria In late January 2026, Apple introduced its second-generation AirTag trackers, bringing a refresh to the old model that has been on the market for half a decade. Now, you can get these new trackers at an all-time low price, thanks to the first big discount that brought the price down by 17% on Amazon. While the second-generation AirTag looks identical to its predecessor, it packs meaningful upgrades inside. The second-gen ultrawideband chip works 50% farther than the original AirTag, allowing you to detect lost items in a wider range. In addition, the second-generation AirTag features an upgraded Bluetooth chip for extended range and a significantly louder speaker (up to 50%) so that you can hear it better when locating a lost item. Note that the second-gen AirTag only works with iPhones and iPads that run iOS/iPadOS 26 and newer, so you need a compatible device to use the tracker. Like the original AirTag, the AirTag 2 is available in two packs: one and four pieces. Both are now available at a notable discount on Amazon, and you can purchase them using the links below. Apple AirTag 2 tracker - $24 | 17% off on Amazon Apple AirTag 2 tracker (four-pack) - $89 | 10% off on Amazon Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S.- specific and not available in other regions unless specified. • I've been on Deezer for over a decade, but glad that Tidal joined them in fighting AI slop. Can't stand such takes as Spotify's: "Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music."
    • “Could” … in the IS the healthcare is run by insurance companies that make indecent profits denying basic treatments to people that are paying money for nothing. Besides, where are all the Trump epigones who were stating that the tariffs were going to paid by foreign companies and not the US citizens? …
