Let's do some more thread ressurection :) I've been a LEGO fan for a long time, mostly building Mindstorms an Technic stuff but recently doing some classic system builds. However, a couple of years ago, I bought the 10172 UCS Millennium Falcon, the biggest, most badass LEGO Star Wars spaceship at the time :D A couple of pictures of it already built on my sofa:

It's almost a meter long, 64 cm wide, weighs 12 kg and contains more than 5100 lego bricks. And it's already discontinued set, so the prices on the market for a used set just keep going higher. Don't gonna sell it though :)

Biggest issue I have with Lego is that they have lost the ability to inspire imagination...

As a kid, I had 2 Lego box sets. They were each a collection of random bricks, enough to build say a house, a car, a spaceship. Big boxes. But no overall agenda.

These days it all seems "Build this car", "build this boat" etc...

Please, if I am wrong, show me smile.gif

I can't agree with that. I love specialized non square block pieces. and they allow for even more imaginaion in my opinion. I don't do lego anymore, since I'm grown up and have fun with other things. But I wish I had all the new pieces as a kid and if I had money to waste I probably would buy new star wars stuff just for the display value.

then again, as a kid I built rather complex models and aimed more for nice looking smooth models and actually got annoyed when my friends built stupid looking square planes and space ships with straight up cockpit windows and crap like that. it's was like "Really... is that the best you can do ? Is my superior awesome looking spaceship supposed to be in the same play universe as that... block" :p

Are there multiple Falcon sets ? I don't think the one I've seen lately is quite that size and weight. and I like them bigger with more details. if I ever could convince myself to put out the money for one, the Falcon is one I really want.

You probably mean this one: http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=7965-1

There were multiple Falcons in Lego's Star Wars line, ranging from MINI series (about 6 eur), to mid-sized (50-110 EUR) and this one, Ultimate Collection Set, that had the retail price set at about 500+ EUR. I bought it in the month they were starting to discontinue producing the set and I paid 550 EUR + 50 for shipping (used set, original box, instructions). Obviously, my family and friends alternately shake their heads at my ''stupidity'' and drool over the pure awesomness of it :D It has 300+ pages of building instructions on a3 format, and only that weighs about 2 kilos.

Prices for a used UCS MFs just keep going higher because they aren't made anymore. The cheapest I saw it was on bricklink for about 1400 EUR and it wasn't even a complete set...

I'm am (or was) a huge LEGO fan. In hindsight I shouldn't have mixed 30+ sets into a giant (and filled to the top) 57-litre tub and thrown out the original boxes.

But nowadays I go into a store and my mind is blown at the insanity of some of the Lego prices - this Jabba's Palace (9516) with a US RRP of $120 costs $175 here in Australia. That's insane!

Also I'm very jealous of that Millenium Falcon, if they weren't so expensive I would have one on my shelf, getting me all the girls keeping me single for eternity

I know what you mean, but the license for the SW line is supposedly expensive and that makes sets subsequently expensive as well.

Yeah, I'm already classified by my family and friends as high level nerd/geek, so it doesn't really matter anymore :D

    • Ah. La Fontana De Incontinentia ! Bella ! Bella !
    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
