Tom
Read the full article here: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2010/11/17/new-and-improved What's changed: A safer address field - Opera's new address field features All web pages gets a badge to the left of the address field. The badge replaces protocols like HTTP, HTTPS and opera:, which are shown only when focusing on the address field. Clicking on the badge provides a easy overview of the potentially more complex security state of the current web page. Parameters at the end of web addresses are visually hidden when the address field is not focused. (You can disable this with opera:config#UserPrefs|HideURLParameter if you still want to see the whole address all the time.) And lastly, there is a badge for browsing with Opera Turbo on. Clicking on this gives, for example, information about estimated data savings for the Opera Turbo session. Nagisan
There we go, that's the sort of changelog I am used to seeing from the Opera team, not that tiny one we had the other day. Looks to be coming together quite well, the new address bar thing may be annoying at first to me personally but seems like a nice addition, if the lesser tech-savvy can understand it, that is. amon91
I'm a pretty big fan of what Opera has done later, browser-wise. Even though that 'badge' looks much like what Firefox and Chrome to an extend have had for years, but I'm glad it's in there.

Nagisan
as if they understand what http, https, ftp and all anyway :p All the more reason to try to get them to understand the badge, they don't need to understand HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, etc, just what the badge means. ViperAFK
I used tobe so against this browser. All i want, adblock(dont even start with the built in filter crap)...and xmarks...and im SET There is an adblock extension (although right now I think that "built in filter crap" works better, just gotta download a urlfilter.ini file), opera link which is included by default is similar to xmarks. Denis W. Veteran Posted November 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2010 The blog didn't load in Opera but did in Chrome... and when it did in Chrome it loaded the Italian page (guess they rolled out the My Opera refresh today). Fail :p Also Gmail has been fixed. I used tobe so against this browser. All i want, adblock(dont even start with the built in filter crap)...and xmarks...and im SET As I've said previously, all Xmarks has to do is use the Opera Link API on their servers, and we're all set without needing any extensions. Delicious new icon for the installer:
Chasethebase Reporter Posted November 17, 2010 Reporter Share Posted November 17, 2010 Yeah they've done a lot of work in refining the UI even further, and now I'm really impressed by both the UI and the browser in general, enough to make me switch. Chrome was too minimal, while Firefox kept hanging and the new rendering messes up some fonts. Dare I say it, I might switch to Opera. (Y)
Denis W. Veteran Posted November 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2010 I like the way they handle dropping http and https from the URL itself. The new site info bar on the left is clear enough for even newbies to decipher. (Y) For comparison purposes: One problem with this build - I can't seem to right click anywhere. If you can't right click anywhere in the browser, try enabling mouse gestures in Preferences.
HawkMan
hmm an annoying change though. if you double click the blank space to the right of the + new tab button of the tabs, it'll open a new tab instead of change from maximixed to windowed. It has never has restored / maximised the window and I hope it never will. If you want to be able to double click parts of the window, add some chrome height in the config

No change at all.....I am still using 10.63 as my main browser and it behaves the exact same way, though if you double click above the tabs it does maximize/window like it should, maybe you though you were clicking to the right of the new tab button when you were not? Denis W. Veteran Posted November 18, 2010 Veteran Share Posted November 18, 2010 Oh by the way... if you do have RSS feeds, DO NOT DO THIS: click on the wrench icon, go to the manage menu, and click Hide Feeds. There doesn't appear to be an obvious way to undo that action. :s Right now I'm restoring a previous version of my profile folders as I have no idea where that option is stored in.
