torrentthief
The Sigma SMP8670 and SMP8910 Secure Media Processors? will be getting XBMC support, sigma is porting XBMC to work with their 2 new processors :) This could mean that we could have ?50-110 standalone players that can literally play virtually every video, audio and image filetype and codec you can throw at it :) Hopefully broadcom, marvell and the other SoC vendors will add support for XBMC now :) Sources: http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/sigma-designs-announces-direct-xmbc-support-for-wild-next-gen-st/ http://xbmc.org/theuni/2011/01/05/xbmc-port-from-sigma/ Product urls: http://www.sigmadesigns.com/products.php?id=137 (SMP8670) http://www.sigmadesigns.com/products.php?id=131 (SMP8910)
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted January 8, 2011 Veteran Share Posted January 8, 2011 They're porting XBMC to work on their arch, they aren't designing their arch around XBMC. Assuming their chip is an ARM design, the resulting port would work on any ARM CPU with little to no modifications.
