camera/photo apps dont' work

Hey all, I went to the apple store today and asked them to look at my iphone 4. my camera app doesn't work shows a library being rebuilt thing and then just crashes and doesn't work. same thing happens with the photo app.

They replaced the iphone and just told me to restore it from my backup. unfortunately as soon as I restored, the phone it did it again... I am pretty sure my backup file in itunes is corrupted somehow but I don't know what to do about that! I am going to go to the apple store again but am not sure whether they can help or not.

what do you guys think? Can i just get my texts and contacts? I am syncing with gmail so that should work for contacts right?

Will the store give me back my iphone? i had all those SHSH blobs saved from 4.0.1 and would like to be able to downgrade.

I had a similar problem when i updated my backup from a 3GS to iPhone 4. It had something to do with write permissions on the media folder and the only way i could fix that was by jailbreaking it but at the time there was no jailbreak for it. I spent quite a while trying to edit my backups and tried numerous methods to fix it. You can jailbreak them quite easily now so maybe look at doing it that way.

The way i fixed it in the end, was backup my contacts to google contacts (gmail), you can do that through iTunes and then i did a fresh restore on the phone, so it was like new and then i just restored my contacts from google, sadly i lost my texts, which i wasn't bothered to much about. Apps and Music should still be in your library so copying them over won't be to difficult.
