Ships in mid-April for $799 body only and $899 with the F3.5-5.6, 18 - 55 mm VR lens

You act like they're going to add a "pro-ish" feature to an entry level body lol.

All other brands have it, I hope the 16.2MP sensor is the same one found in the D7000, A580, A55 and K5 since it has proven itself to deliver top of the line results.

Overall though, it looks like a really nice body and is quite decently priced.

Bumping a year old thread, but it's still relevant.
Just ordered a refurb Body Only D5100 for $485 thanks to a bunch of coupons. I'm upgrading from my D40, which I really like. While I'm waiting for it to be delivered, do any of you guys own it? What's your experience with it? I remember holding my friend's D5100 and the button layout was pretty different from my D40. I'm looking forward to the video modes.

In this case it's better to just make a new thread, but in any case, you should see a significant improvement over your older D40.

The D40 was somewhat... disappointing, so yes, you should like your 5100.
