Keyboard/Midi controller recommendation for beginners

Hi,

I was just wondering what keyboard/midi controller you guys would recommend for a beginner? I have a little knowledge of using sound recording programs from classes I have taken in school but I am trying to start my own studio set up and am not sure what would be the best to get. I am looking to create music using mainly Propellerhead Reason right now. My budget for this right now is around $100-300.

I used a very cheap USB MIDI adapter when I started. I'd advise going to a local music store and just getting a decently priced adapter. If you're going to get more professional, you could buy an audio interface which has both MIDI and audio. I've always used Edirol products in the past, which have served me well.

But Reason will work with any decent interface as far as my experience goes. :)

I have an EMU XBoard 25 (you can get the 49 if you want bigger keyboard) and it's great.
