EAC ripping & encoding tutorial 1 2
by username- 48 replies
- 87.4k views
After seeing many people ask about ripping and encoding audio CDs here, I have decided to make a little tutorial for people who want to make the best possible rips as well as encoding quality. EAC (Exact Audio Copy) is used to extract the audio as well as direct the encoding and tagging of the extracted wav files. EAC uses the best in audio extraction and error correction to ensure the highest possible end result. This guide will cover both MP3 and OGG audio compression options. MP3 is the most popular standard with very good transparent quality possible. OGG Vorbis is also used which is a newer compression which delivers better compression then MP3 as well as growing…

video Any recommendations for video editor
by Insainment- 7 replies

I recently got a windows device and can't find a half-decent video editor. I've been using a website that's simple and great, but they announced that they will be shutting the site down because they were bought by GoPro or something like that. The choices in the microsoft store are just terrible, I've tried like 15-20 of them and they're all garbage. I don't need anything big or professional, just a simple video editor/creator. At this point I'd happy just to be able to put video clips together then add music/audio and the transitions, FX, themes, etc.. would be a plus. Also with a limit of 10 to 20 minutes, no Magisto or Animoto with 30 second long videos or WeVideo that…

I bought a Compro VideoMate S350 for £25 back in 2011. I have used it, whilst connected to my PC, to capture 640x480 video files from VHS tapes via. a VHS player and it's fine. Is there a way to capture the tapes at a higher quality? (for archival purposes)

App Demo Video
by hemsworth- 0 replies

Hi guys! I'm new here so it's really nice to meet you all. I hope I'll here for a long time. I have a question for you. Have any of you made a demo video for an android application? I've created a game recently - and because my friend is a rather popular youtuber and just an awesome friend of mine, he suggested to post it on his channel. The problem is, I don't know how to make this video. Where to start? Do I have to make a script? I don't want for a video to be just an overview of my game. I've thought about contacting App Demo Video Production website but I want to give it a try at least. Also, I don't know if it is a right place to create this thread …

Encoding VHS captured video for best file size
by Jonny Wright- 0 replies

I have started converting some old VHS tapes (family videos etc) into a digital format. I didn't want to spend a fortune doing it so just went with this cheap and cheerful capture device. It works fine and came bundled with Arcsoft Showbiz capture software. The hardware seems pretty good and the software is OK (pig ugly though). I have tried a few other apps but this seems to be the only one compatible with the hardware. I have tried quite a few different encoding apps and most of them don't like the files which are being created by the Arcsoft software. Adobe Media Encoder errors with The file G:\2016_2_6_20_53_42.mpg could not be imported. Error while decompress…

Copying recorded TV to my PC
by compl3x- 5 replies
- 78.6k views
Hope this is in the right place. Here it goes. I have an LG - 47LW5700 HDTV. It has the ability to attach an external HDD to record programs and pause/resume live TV. I think the HDD might be on the way out, but I have a lot of recorded TV on the Ext. HDD that I haven't seen yet or don't want to lose. I can't simply connect the HDD to my PC and copy over the content; the drive isn't recognised in windows. I was wondering if there was any kind of workaround that would give me access to the content stored on the drive so I can save it before my HDD goes kaput. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer :)

What's a good entry-level video editor?
by bluesman86- 0 replies

I've been looking around for a decent video editor program that can do basic stuff without being too expensive. I want to be able to stabilize video, correct colors, make stuff slow-motion, and add titles. So far I've found Adobe Premiere elements and Cyberlink Powerdirector are both getting good reviews. Which one do you guys use or recommend?

Remastering Video - A little help?
by Sir Topham Hatt- 0 replies

Can anyone talk me through some fairly easy-to-use video remastering software? I have some DVDs of stuff that was done in the 1980s, but I'd like to have a go at remastering the episodes as there's a lot of de-interlacing lines and some fuzziness. Someone online has already done it but their episodes aren't quite the same, plus the resolution has been reduced (it's already the standard UK PAL 720x576). I have been pointed to Avidemux but didn't know if there's anything else I should look at.

Capture to RTMP stream

I'm trying to figure out how to capture video to an RTMP stream for an online streaming service (similar to ustream). What kind of hardware is recommended for this? I want to be able to do this with HD video. Right now I have a Hauppauge Colossus, but I'm unable to get anything to work with this card. What hardware and software do other people use for this?

VCR Cassette to Digital Video File?
by Nick H.- 1 reply
Hello all, My mother has decided to move back to the UK after 15 years of living in Switzerland. During the "cleaning" process - getting rid of stuff she doesn't want to take - we have stumbled across a VCR cassette with a home video from the 90's. This has become a major thing for us, as there are clips of family members that are no longer with us. I would like to preserve these videos while they are still in decent condition, and so I've decided to create a mini project on the idea. The most basic (and essential) of requirements is taking the video from the cassette and having a digital copy on a HDD. Maybe I've over-thought the idea, but I was thinking of doing a SC…

Okay. Simple enough. I want to take some of the .wtv files, which are the WMC recorded tv files and convert them into a more usable format. Simply to MP4 or MKV. I'd also like to be able to trim the start and end, and perhaps remove ads. I tried to use handbrake but some of the files just stop converting at random percentages. MC-TV converter is just .blah. Windows movie maker had sync issues with the output. Is there any decent software where I can just input the file, edit how I see fit, and output the file in a common format? Thanks.

I'm trying to get a whole bunch of videos on screen, playing at one time. The idea would be to slowly pan into the central video. Any ideas how this can be achieved? I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 9. I've attached these two pictures to illustrate what I'm trying to achieve. Any help would be great!

Change Aspect Ratio without converting?
by Rippleman- 2 replies
- 31.3k views
I have done lots of converting in the past and present, but sometimes come across video files that are in the format I want but have the wrong aspect ratio. In Media Player Classic i can still watch normally by "override aspect ratio" but i would much rather change it permanently and not have the hassle of changing back and forth from aspect to aspect depending on the video. the reason why i think this could be an easy fix is because when you play a file, obviously the media player has to know how to play it with a set of parameters right? here is a pic of what i would like to change: Is there a way to change these details in Windows 7 or even maybe a 3rd party progr…

I need some video editing help....
by Barney T.- 11 replies

Hi Neowinians, I recently went to a concert and my daughter took a video of the group during warm up (it was fine with them). During the video, she turned her phone horizontal and vertical a couple of times so that the orientation changes. This poses a problem as when it is vertical, all is well, but when it is horizontal, the band is sideways on the screen. I need someone with more smarts than me to help me edit it so that when it runs, the entire thing is upright like it should be. I tried iMovie and Moviemaker, but both turn the whole clip one way or the other. The clip is 1.17 GB. Can anyone help? I will be happy to put it on a large file site for you to downl…

Subtitle problem
by TDT- 3 replies
- 5.4k views
Hi guys. I'm trying to edit some subtitles and I'm having trouble with the character encoding. The subtitle is in .srt format and it shows perfectly fine in Media Player Classic (Central European encoding). However, if I open the subtitle in Notepad or Subtitle Workshop (or any other subtitle editor that I've tried), all the diacritics are changed to weird characters. In Subtitle Workshop I've set the Central/Eastern European encoding, but no effect. So, how come the damn thing works fine in the video player and shows up weird in editors? :( And is there anything I can do to solve this? Thank you.

Program for increasing audio volume from ripped Blu-ray?
by Anthony Tosie- 2 replies
- 6.4k views
Anyone have suggestions for increasing audio volume from a ripped Blu-ray file? I've tried increasing it via Handbrake's gain field, but it results in massive distortion for even minor gains. Similarly, I've tried eac3to, but for some reason every time I use the command prompt to increase the volume (+Xdb), it will revert itself on the second pass through. RipBot264 has also been relatively unsuccessful with its normalize increase. Obviously I'm modifying the entire file with Handbrake and RipBot, but only the audio portion in eac3to. Any suggestions?
