128 GB Surface back up for pre-order, shipping by March 1st

Microsoft's 128 GB Surface Pro tablet is available once again via the online Microsoft Store, although shipments will not be fulfilled until March 1st, 2013. Earlier in the week Microsoft promised that there would be more 128 GB models available by Saturday, so it looks like this is the first step in getting more Surface Pros in the hands of consumers; according to the previous statement, more units should be available in bricks-and-mortar stores shortly as well.

The 128 GB model sold out very quickly after the launch of the tablet last week, but it looks like Microsoft is working around the clock to ensure that more Surfaces are available for people to buy. Head over to the Microsoft Store to place your pre-order right now, with prices unsurprisingly remaining unchanged since the launch: the 128 GB model will set you back US$999 without a Touch Cover.

I tried Microsoft Canada, already sold out, or they just didn't get any?

Probably sold out by limited availability. I wouldn't expect them to be cranked out at the level of iPads or something, given that they're full blown computers at quite the premium price, but there's demand no doubt.

My local Microsoft store received their shipment on valentines day. Glad I called, I picked it up in the evening after dinner. This was at the Houston Galleria location.

Nice! Fellow Houstonian here, around the Pasadena area. I think we're still waiting on more to come in at Best Buy out here. I wouldn't say it's an incredibly hot item, so much as it is limited availability. Glad you got yours though!

Yay. Another Houstonian here too. Would get the Surface if I had more disposable income but alas I'm just a student

I spotted two girls at UH with Surface RT tablets, so it's getting there. It's too bad the Chronicle's tech writer has barely even touched a Surface unit. He's practicallly a Mac guy now.

anybody know how many actually were sold? no trace about any number... could be 2, or 2M, seems nobody has a clue.

also anybody got it here? i'm planning to possibly get one myself.

Ordered midnight Friday/Saturday morning and got it shipped out on Monday; received Tuesday. Device is fantastic, get about 5 hours on normal browsing and document editing, under that with video playback. Really a nice device - I suggest getting the type cover though if you will do any heavy typing on it - I will be using it for software development when I'm not on my desktop

pre-order? shouldn't that be for backorder?

and why would you be surprised the price didn't change? the thing just came out!

I know what it means, read what I wrote, I said why would you be suprised it didn't change, as in why would you even write that

you misunderstood the sentence, it says that with no surprise, the price is not changed.

it's just an extra sentence without much meaning, to make the article 1 line longer i guess
