Keep in mind that ESET is a Slovak company, and while their user interfaces and documentation pretty much make sense, there are a lot of idiomatic phrases that they might not pick up on like a native English speaker does, or article usage, tense usage, etc., might be a little off at times. Try reading it as "A Proud ESET Beta Tester" or "Proud to be an ESET Beta Tester" and it makes more sense. I would imagine that ESET is probably more busy working on the program than on wallpaper, so it probably got a perfunctory look before it went out. You can probably find the plain version of the wallpaper somewhere on their site and make your own version.

What kind of person would advertise themself as being a "Proud Eset Beta Tester" ?

Wasn't knocking it on grammatical grounds.
It just reminded me of those stupid mini banner things people used to flood their sigs with.

Compatibility between ESET v7.0.104.0 ("Beta 2") and Windows 8.1 preview should be considered preliminary, as the operating system itself is pre-release code.

For best results, I suggest turning on pre-release updates. This allows an installation of ESET v7 software to download the latest modules first, which can contain fixes for operating system compatibility issues. It can be turned on by navigating to Advanced Setup|Update|Settings from the menu bar in the user interface and selecting the Pre-release update radio button in the left pane.
