Did anyone else catch the performance last night? I wasn't impressed. I'm no prude, and I have the mouth of a sailor, but I was really turned off by her copious F-bombs. Anyone can say f___. It's no longer shocking. It's just crude when a performer with an audience as vast as hers says that word so many times in a performance. A couple decades ago, she talked about her snatch and dressed like a slut. That garnered a whole lot of attention, both negative and positive. She made a statement by doing it. In light of her history of ballsy moves and all that she's done for the gay community and pop music, talking like a ghetto ho during a little promo concert is pretty pitiful.

Don't you just love polarising influences?

I used to love Madge - and then she appear to think that she needed to "get down with the kids" and suddenly she's an embarrassing mum trying to please teenagers. I reckon she should stick to what she's good at and stop behaving like she's 25. Ray of Light was, as someone pointed out, her high point (some might argue it was Like A Prayer, but that's the beauty of free speech) and since then she's spent far too much time looking for popular producers and co-writers instead of looking for good producers and co-writers.

She's now possibly doing the Star Trek thing - one good album, one poor one: Ray of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions, Hard Candy... spot the up/down trend?

[8 hours later: Except I just realised that's one good one, one OK one, one poor one, one good one, one poor one. I'll get my coat...]

Say what you will about Madonna, she's made a lot of music and had a lot of hits. She may have aged, but she's still going, none of you people commenting here have even BEGUN to be anywhere near as big a success as she has been, so leave her alone.

And FYI, I don't like her music, but that doesn't mean I don't respect her for all she's done.

Anyway, on topic - I hope more stuff like this happens with more artists.

So, you completely missed his point then, yes? Or are you actually stupid enough to believe when someone has a valid point they should be shot down because you don't agree with it?

If you think that to have an opinion on someone it is REQUIRED that you are at least as successful as they are then virtually all comments on Neowin would have to be deleted.

Besides, I don't think YOU are as successful as Madonna so your OWN logic makes you opinion as invalid as anyone else's.

Now go buy some of that shampoo she's selling on TV. It's available at any drug or grocery store or even 7-11. It's just that good

Where did I say it was REQUIRED? You've obviously missed my point COMPLETELY. And judging from your sheer ignorance, I'm not at all surprised.
Just accept it - like her music or not, she's a bit of a success so she must be doing SOMETHING right.

Madonna? Is that thing still around?

I figured she ran out of money after she did that god-awful Sunsilk commercial

Have you heard her nw album? I'm really disappointed in it. She used to do her own thing, but this album sounds like everyone else's hip hop crap. There's hardly a song on the album where she doesn't have a black guy rapping or making "uh" and "wiki" sounds in it. Check out Give It To Me where she says, "Get stupid," repeatedly. Well, she got stupid, for sure.
Maybe naap51stang is right in that she's washed-out. I was happy to have her back on planet Earth when she released Confessions On a Dancefloor, since we'd lost her to Planet Hippie for the previous couple of albums. I hope she gets metaphorically mugged (critically and financially) on this little trip into the ghetto that she calls Hard Candy.

Musically, Ray of Light was the best album, and that was 10 years ago now!. In fact, I think the best album she'd ever done. It's timeless, unlike this Hip Hop crap which will date & sound as bad as house music does now. She should do one more album with William Orbit.

I dont think Skwerl knows what hiphop really is because her album is not hiphop at all. daniel_rh is right its Pop with a a little hip in it. And who cares if ther is "a black guy rapping or making "uh" and "wiki" sounds". Its sad really to wish for her to do bad and to call her album a trip to the ghetto shows how little of a person you are Skwerl.

I do. It's part of my opinion. It's an example of how she has caved to an American trend as opposed to setting them like she used to. Looks like someone from Billboard is in at least partial agreement with this.

You're obviously a model person by pointing that out. As for wishing her to do badly, the truth is that I do not wish her misfortune- however, if the album bombs, that will be a clear message to her that the route this album took is not one she should repeat.
