MS Releases Beta of Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4

Microsoft, yesterday, informed testers for the Update Rollup pack for Windows 2000 that a pre-beta copy is available to test.

The Update rollup is a change from traditional Service Packs that Microsoft have released in the past for Windows 2000. The update will include all the latest hotfixes and security hotfixes for Windows 2000 but will not feature any improvements in IE security or any of the codename "springboard" enhancements that XPSP2 and Server 2003 SP1 have brought with them.

Update Rollup 1, released to testers yesterday will be ready for an RTM (release to manufacturing) in late March and a RTW (release to web) in mid April.
