Verizon starts blocking 4Chan.org

Verizon has taken bold steps over the last 72 hours to block the popular photo sharing website, 4chan.org.  Verizon has confirmed to 4chan that they are intentionally blocking the website but did not state a specific reason.

"After an hour and a half on the phone, we've received confirmation from Verizon's Network Repair Bureau (NRB) that we are 'explicitly blocked'" wrote founder moot on 4Chan.org.

While Verizon did not specifically state why they were blocking the site, AT&T did block 4chan.org in the past after a suspected DDOS attack was originating from the sites IP but was actually a technical mistake on AT&T’s end.

4chan is known for its extremely active and technically savvy community.  Blocking a high profile site like this and not coming clean about its reasoning may hurt Verizon as the community is well organized and it’s highly likely that they could coordinate an attack against Verizon in little to no time.
