Did you even install or download the software before you made that comment?

i downloaded 3.0 when it came out, i suspected nothing less with this

I'm confused :S lol. My search on Vista can be quite slow actually, but I would assume that this is a replacment of Windows Desktop Search (which was really for XP, right? As Vista has its own search functions...)

I have installed this update and what it does is it updates the current vista search as the default vista rtm search is the windows desktop search 3.0 engine built into vista and integrated into the system. This updates the search algorithm so that it performs faster and more efficiently with searching and indexing, which I have personally noticed an increase in performance. It also adds minimal feature additions in this release. The update when installed on xp installs the whole desktop search program or upgrades the previous version if its already installed. Hope that clears things up a bit.

yeah why would you want desktop search in vista when you have vista's native searching/indexing? after reading the knowledge base article it would appear that this replaces the vista search, at least i can see nothing that indicates you end up with 2 search engines on 1 machine. does this upgrade the "engine" in Vista for search or is this a separate add-on? I think the search in Vista is pretty frickin' fast already..I'll wait for an answer.

I think this replaces the older Windows Desktop Search, but I'm not completely sure :worried:

It think it does as using Search on my Vista machine has just got a lot faster since installing this! Has MS injected steriods into Windows Desktop Search?!?
