Xbox 360 Elite to Launch in Japan on October 11 for $90 less

The Xbox 360 Elite is set to launch in Japan on October 11, after a late April launch in the U.S. and an early May one in Canada. Although Japanese gamers have to wait Xbox 360 Elite much longer for the upgraded console to arrive, they will be getting a considerable break on the price over their North American counterparts. The Xbox 360 Elite is set to retail in Japan for 47,800 yen, or about $389. In the U.S., the Xbox 360 Elite retails for $479. It remains to be seen whether or not the improved features or relatively better value price of the Xbox 360 Elite will be enough to entice Japanese gamers to Microsoft's console – which so far is ineffective in that country. Sales of Xbox 360 in Japan appear to be boosted by only the release of Japanese-made RPGs.

The truth is, there have great difficulty breaking in to the Japanese market. It makes sense the price cut.
I doubt EU/AUS will get this sort of deal.

The sports / action fps that does very well over here but is not the main stream games in Japan. On top of that, the Japanese culture of supporting there own domestic companies vs foreign (the ps3 does better then the xbox360 in japan for example) is also a barrier.

What I think should happen is MS hire native staff and give them 100% independent in regards to game design, marketing, and let them produce there own games without any interference from the US management. The only thing they should impose is the ability to export to the US if they feel there could be a market for it. برامج حماية - برامج صوت وصورة - برامج إنترنت - RealPlayer

ditto, this is a reason I held off against getting one. bet the price is jacked up :@

they give us the burden of paying for the japanese savings kinda like sony delaying, jacking up price here and removing emotion engine from ps3. i wish they would just give us a break

I was going to get a Premium last week, but then I thought, can't be that long till the elite comes out, and I can always save a bit extra cash. But by the look of it EU is gonna be paying through the nose like always.
