Samsung today made a surprising announcement about its flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold. While the company typically hosts major press events for its key launches, this time Samsung has opted to introduce the Galaxy Z TriFold through a simple press release.
The low-key launch is attributed to the device’s limited initial availability. At launch, the smartphone will be available only in Korea, with plans to expand to a few more countries early next year.
As the name suggests, the Galaxy Z TriFold features a unique multi-folding design. When unfolded twice, users can enjoy an immersive 10-inch display. The smartphone uses an inward-folding mechanism to protect the main screen. If a user attempts to fold it incorrectly while opening or closing, the device triggers an auto-alarm with a series of on-screen alerts and vibrations to prevent damage.
Despite measuring just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, the Galaxy Z TriFold houses a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery for extended usage. It also supports 45W super-fast charging for quicker recharging. To deliver flagship-level performance, the TriFold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage.
Here are the key highlights of the device’s display, hinge, and industrial design:
- Samsung redesigned the Armor FlexHinge with two differently sized hinges and a dual-rail structure for smoother, more stable folding. The refined mechanism minimizes the gap between screen panels, allowing for a thinner and more portable device.
-
The Galaxy Z TriFold introduces new display technology tailored for its 10-inch dual-folding screen. A reinforced overcoat and shock-absorbing layer improve durability and resistance across the folding sections.
-
A titanium hinge housing and Advanced Armor Aluminum frame improves durability without adding bulk. The materials prevent screen contact when folded, while a ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced back panel maintains thinness and crack resistance.
-
Each device undergoes strict quality checks, including CT scans of internal components and laser scanning for precise assembly. These inspections ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistent build quality.
-
The Dynamic 2X AMOLED cover screen supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The Galaxy Z TriFold offers high brightness in both modes, with up to 2600 nits on the cover display and 1600 nits on the main screen.
The Galaxy Z TriFold features a triple rear camera system that includes a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with Dual Pixel AF, an f/2.2 aperture, 1.4 μm pixels, and a 120° field of view; a 200 MP wide-angle camera with Quad Pixel AF, OIS, an f/1.7 aperture, 0.6 μm pixels, and an 85° field of view, offering 2x optical-quality zoom through its Adaptive Pixel Sensor; and a 10 MP telephoto camera with PDAF, OIS, an f/2.4 aperture, 1.0 μm pixels, a 36° field of view, 3x optical zoom, and up to 30x digital zoom.
For selfies, the cover screen includes a 10 MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture, 1.12 μm pixels, and an 85° field of view, while the main screen houses another 10 MP camera with the same aperture and pixel size but a wider 100° field of view.
Galaxy Z TriFold will be available for purchase in Korea on Dec. 12, 2025. It will also be made available in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the U.S. Samsung is also offering an exclusive display repair benefit for Galaxy Z TriFold customers through which customers can enjoy a one-time 50 percent discount on display repair costs.
