Google said that "the O Developer Preview includes an updated SDK with system images for testing on the official Android Emulator". The company has also launched a new Developer Preview site with resources on the new edition, along with information on behavior changes and new APIs in the OS.

This first Developer Preview will be supported on six devices:

  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus Player
  • Pixel C

Google emphasizes - in more than one place - that "Developer Preview 1 is for developers only and not intended for daily or consumer use." Those who plan to install it are urged to read the release notes before doing so.
